A Gnu PSA

We went out on Sunday for our final route check of the this years Trail of the Gnu. The conditions are really good, some may describe them as challenging. We would like to say fun and entertaining.

With that being said, we cannot stress enough the importance of having proper tires. Doubly important for our 2wd competitors. We would go as far and say for the 2wds is to pack some chains.

The conditions at the Gnu are notorious for changing in the final week leading up to the event. What we saw on Sunday can and most likely will change for this Saturday. Will it change for the better? For worse? Either is possible. And most likely both will happen.

On all the gravel roads it was 100% snow coverage. Some areas were quite deep. We had snow coming up over the hood. Some areas just a little, but deceiving. With what was revealed upon walk was a skating rink. Uphill. Check out the photos below.

So in a way this could be post could be looked at as a Trail of the Gnu Public Service Announcement. Come prepared. It will make your day far more enjoyable.

Pre-run photos and other news

Hey everyone. We had a really productive day out and around the area of the Gnu yesterday. The conditions so far this year are ideal. I would have to say 90% snow coverage on the gravel roads. Over that 90% it varies from icy to grippy to a little bit deeper. Today, March 3, much of southern Alberta, including the areas of the Gnu, are under a winter storm warning with upwards of 20cms of new snow. Check out the photos below from yesterday's pre-run.

The time to enter the 2013 Trail of the Gnu has come, so start sending your entries in ASAP (link below).

With the feedback we received from both the competitors and Boston Pizza, we decided to go with the same format as last year. All the info for that is in the Supp Regs (link below)

 

As in previous years we have again secured a block of rooms at the traditional Rally HQ for the Gnu.

The 2013 Trail of the Gnu

Hi everyone, wanted to give a heads up of this years Trail of the Gnu TSD Rally. The date is set for

Saturday March 23, 2013.

The rally will be again held out of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and take you on a full days adventure through the foothills of Alberta. More information like the supp regs and venue / hotel and prerun photos will be added in the coming days and weeks so keep checking back here.
